The Madison Area Christmas Compilation began in 2010 as Jeremy Gehler and Jon Kussow rallied local Madison bands and artists for a songwriting workshop that would allow us to take back Christmas from the dreaded annual programming of the malls and radios.
Each band writes and records an original holiday song at Danchez Audio (and perhaps a classic) from September to November. Then in December, we host the MAXMAS Showcase, where all of the bands perform their songs for the masses!

To date we have accumulated over 50 recordings, most of which are original MAXMAS songs and all of which are produced locally. We run a food drive with Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin at every showcase, providing over 150 meals for hungry families every year.
